Man Killed, Passenger Critically Injured In Crash On 101 Freeway

The man and woman from Agoura Hills were in a single car crash on the Ventura 101 Freeway in Westlake Village.

AGOURA HILLS, CA — A 43-year-old Agoura Hills man was killed and his passenger, a 43-year-old woman also from Agoura Hills, was critically injured in a single car crash Sunday morning on the Ventura (101) Freeway in Westlake Village, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash on the Lindero Canyon on-ramp to the 101 freeway was reported at about 6:10 a.m., according to the CHP.

The motorists driving a 2018 Ford Mustang was heading north on Lindero Canyon Road toward the 101 Freeway. While on the southbound onramp to the 101, the driver lost control of his car, the CHP said.

The man's car hit a metering light warning lamp and then a tree before coming to rest on the right shoulder of the southbound 101 freeway, the CHP said.

The man died at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of kin. His passenger, Rehka Best, was taken to Los Robles Hospital with major injuries.
