Mariette Hartley, at 80, continues to do what she loves best – act. Most recently, in the feature film, “The Message,” and in back-to-back TV movies, “House on the Hill” and “Escaping My Stalker.” Since her first role at 13 years of age with the White Barn Theatre in Connecticut, there has almost never been a year that has gone by during which Mariette hasn’t graced our film and TV screens.
What you probably don’t know about Mariette is that she experienced bipolar disorder through many of those years, and eventually was one of the founders of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, a foundation which has served many potentially suicidal individuals. Mariette’s commitment to suicide prevention is unwavering. She is currently the foundation’s national spokesperson.
