Mountain Lion Sighting In Agoura Hills Prompts Safety Warnings
Sheriffs warned those in the vicinity of 28800 block of Barragan St. to keep small children and pets indoors.

AGOURA HILLS, CA — A mountain lion was spotted sleeping in a neighborhood tree in Agoura Hills Saturday, prompting the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department to warn residents. Wildlife officials have decided to let the animal be for now but have advised residents to keep their children and pets close and indoors.
The mountain lion was spotted in a tree along the 28800 block of Barragan St. in Agoura Hills and was reported around 1 p.m. said Lt. Greg Evans of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station.
California Department of Fish and Wildlife officials told the sheriff's department the tree is about 1,000 feet from open space and that the mountain lion would likely return to the nearby Santa Monica Mountains when darkness falls, Evans said.

Deputies were told to just keep an eye on the big cat, which was wearing a special collar. Evans did not know whether the collar would merely identify the lion or aid in tracking it. The age and gender of the mountain lion were not available.
The department posted a picture on Twitter of the wild cat climbing the neighborhood tree Saturday afternoon.
