Students Win Arts PTA Awards

Liana Leininger is honored by the California Reflections program for her dance choreography and Joshua Carlon wins for his musical score.

Agoura Hills 8-year-olds Liana Leininger and Joshua Carlon received awards of merit for their artistic entries at a California Reflections ceremony in Sacramento last month.

Reflections, a national parent teacher association art encouragement program, received more than 63,000 entries for this year' s contest, whose theme was "Beauty Is..."

Leininger, a second-grader at was recognized for her choreography of a waltz.

Carlon, a home-schooled student of the Las Virgenes Academy, won the state award for his musical score "First Snow of Winter."

Both students plan to enter next year's Reflections competition. The 2010-11 theme is "Together We Can."
