This week's "view" is of Malibou Lake—yes, it's spelled that way. The man-made oasis tucked away in the Santa Monica Mountains is named for the Chumash spelling of "Malibu." The Chumash inhabited the former plot of land for nearly 4,000 years.
Another fun fact: Malibou Lake has more than 100 screen credits, most notably horror films spanning the 1931 "Frankenstein," 1958's "I Married a Monster From Outer Space," and the 2002 "The Ring."
Stay tuned for a Lowdown on Malibou Lake in the weeks to come.
