Triunfo YMCA Thanksgiving Space Exploration Camp—Nov. 20-22

This year's camp theme is "Full Steam Ahead."

The Triunfo YMCA, serving Westlake Village, Agoura and Oak Park, is holding its annual Thanksgiving Camp November 20 through the 22 at its Willow Elementary School (29026 Laro Dr., Agoura Hills) childcare facility. The Las Virgenes Unified School District is closed the week of Thanksgiving.

Campers ages 5 through 14 will take part in a variety of supervised indoor and outdoor activities designed to instill 21st century skills in the next generation of innovative thinkers. This year’s camp theme is “Full Steam Ahead."

Monday, November 20 will include ice painting, a glow-in-the-dark slime project, making ice cream and a team challenge. On Tuesday, November 21, "Vicki The Science Lady" visits. There will also be salt painting, a "bubble mania" outdoor activity and a team-building rockets project. On Wednesday, November 22, campers create lava lamps and kaleidoscopes and cook up tasty "solar s'mores."

"The camp focuses on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) projects,” says Chrissy Withers, Triunfo YMCA associate executive director. "We present each activity in a fun, hands-on way that will keep campers engaged and eager to learn more."

Before and after camp childcare is provided at no extra cost. Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The fee is $155 for all three days (no daily rates). For more information and a rundown of each day's activities, call the Triunfo YMCA at 818-707-9622 or email Chrissy Withers at cwithers@sevymca.org.
