The heat was on with Patch's news coverage this week, which also included an artist whose painting has raised money for firefighters' families.

The weather may have been in full gloom this week, but Agoura Hills Patch covered everything hot. Our Wild Agoura columnist braved the sun along the city's acclaimed Cheeseboro Canyon Trail. We gave it to you straight about Agoura's latest hot dog joint. And Scotty B's saucy stand was the subject of our Fresh from the Farmers Market.

We introduced you to Carol Gurney, our local animal communicator. She talks to animals and has created her own institute to teach others how she does it.

Patch covered Agoura High's scrimmage against Camarillo. Tim Haddock predicted that the Chargers would see a lot of two tight end sets and a strong running game when the season opened with a non-league game against Ventura.

FRIDAY

The subject of this week's Agoura Mom Files was body image and Sip Malibu Cielo Wine Bar was featured in The Agoura Scene.

Patch reported on a lawsuit against the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department by the deputy who arrested Mel Gibson. James Mee alleges that he's been passed up for promotions since initially refusing to alter a drunk driving arrest report to remove anti-Semitic slurs made by the actor.

SATURDAY
