Work to Begin Next Year on Final Tunnel on Kanan Dume Road

A six month rehabilitation project will begin as early as July on the first tunnel on Kanan Dume Road between Malibu and Agoura. 

The project will begin once work wraps up on a similar tunnel rehab project on Malibu Canyon Road, according to Mike Caspar of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works.

Construction on Malibu Canyon Road's tunnel is set to begin in January. 

"We understand it is a big disruption," Caspar said. "We want to get in and out of there as quickly as possible."

One lane for each direction of traffic will remain open on Kanan Dume Road.
