2 Alameda Eateries On Best Burgers Of The East Bay List

Are you looking for a big juicy burger with your favorite fixings, or perhaps a surprising twist? Check out these offerings.

ALAMEDA, CA — Memorial Day weekend is upon us, the traditional start of the summer grilling season.

If you would rather let someone else do the cooking for you, these burger joints recently made the Eater SF list of top 20 burgers in the East Bay.

Smish Smash at Neptune's claimed the 16th spot on the list. The restaurant has joined 'the “smash burger” trend — the style of burger in which balls of raw beef are flattened on the griddle with the goal of creating the maximum amount of well-charred, crispy bits.' The place is open "Thursday to Sunday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. (8 p.m. on Sundays), with a likelihood of selling out." The address is 630 Central Ave., Alameda.

Just behind at number 17 is Scolari's Good Eats. SF Eater asks, "How could a burger with bacon, blue cheese, and blueberry sauce be anything short of a disaster? Somehow, though, Scolari’s most notorious — but ever popular — menu item somehow just works in the execution of those flavor combinations." The address is 1303 Park St., Alameda.

Here's the complete top 20 list:
