8 Alameda Firefighters Quarantined After Coronavirus Confirmed

Eight Alameda firefighters have been quarantined after one firefighter tested positive for COVID-19​ earlier this week, city officials said.

ALAMEDA, CA — Eight Alameda firefighters have been quarantined after one firefighter tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week, city officials announced Friday.

The firefighter tested positive on Tuesday, leading to an Alameda County Health Department investigation that identified eight Alameda firefighters who might have been exposed to the disease.

Per county health department protocols, those firefighters have been isolated and are awaiting test results, officials said.

City officials said Alameda fire stations remain fully staffed, and there is no reduction in the fire department's ability to respond to calls.
