AFD Assist Kite Surfers on Crown Beach

A couple of kite surfers lost track of each other out in the water Wednesday evening and asked for assistance from Alameda Fire Department.

Alameda Fire Department used their water rescue boat Wednesday evening to assist a couple of kite surfers on Crown Beach.

According to Capt. Jim Colburn, a couple of kite surfers lost track of each other out in the water. One of the surfers made it back to shore and called AFD around 6:38 p.m. to help find the other surfer, Colburn said.

AFD launched the boat on water and retrieved the kite but did not find the surfer.

The suffer apparently had made it back to shore during this time and notified AFD.
