Alameda Fire Department investigators are trying to find the cause of two-alarm fire that caused an estimated $400,000 in damages to a Victorian home on Cedar Street Monday afternoon.
The fire at a two-story Victorian house was reported at 12:39 p.m. in the 800 block of Cedar Street, Alameda fire Capt. James Colburn said.
He added that a neighbor saw smoke and went to the front door of the house where he found a female occupant inside the smoke-filled home. He was able to rescue her before firefighters arrived at the scene.
The blaze was put under control at 2:37 p.m. Colburn said. The fire badly damaged the home, causing around $400,000 in damages to the home and its contents and the residents have been displaced, he said.
It spread through the house on both floors, damaging the attic as well. The displaced residents are staying with family.
Three firefighters suffered minor injuries tackling the blaze and were treated at the house, Colburn said.
Oakland, and Alameda County fire departments assisted. A total of 41 Firefighters responded to the fire, Colburn said.
