Before and After Photos: East Bay El Nino Effect

These photos shared by Patch reader Darryl Sarkisian show Lake Chabot before and after winter storms.

If you need proof that El Nino storms had an impact on local lakes and reservoirs, look no further than Lake Chabot in the East Bay Regional Park District.

Patch reader Darryl Sarkisian shared these photos on the Castro Valley Patch Facebook page. The photo showing a severely depleted lake was taken on Oct. 11, 2015, while the replenished lake photo was taken on March 28 of this year.

Activities at Lake Chabot include fishing, boating, hiking, mountain biking, swimming, picnicking and golf. Scheduled activities include hikes for tykes, kayaking for over 50s and outdoor movies.
