From Alameda Fire Department

The Alameda Firefighters were recently out, “Filling the Boot” on behalf of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

People driving by the intersection of Marina Village Parkway and Constitution Way in Alameda, seeing their firefighters with boots in hand, generously gave
to support the MDA.

The Firefighters were able to raise $3,511 in donations.

“The Alameda Firefighters are happy to join our brothers and sister firefighters across the nation, by "filling the boot," Alameda Firefighters President Domenick Weaver said. "With millions of Americans suffering from neuromuscular diseases, we hope our efforts will assist the MDA with necessary funds to research, educate, and provide assistance to those struggling with neuromuscular disease.”

The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) is the largest national sponsor of the MDA.

More than 300,000 members of the IAFF in the United States and Canada are pledged to saving lives, both as fire fighters and paramedics and as the strongest campaigners for the worldwide research efforts of MDA to eradicate 40 neuromuscular diseases, affecting more than a million Americans.  Standing together, professional fire fighters continue the 56 year tradition of hope and caring.
