Attention citizens of Alameda! Trick or treating may be cancelled this year, but Halloween is not.

Alameda-Haunt Your House!, the popular city-wide decorating contest in support of the Alameda Food Bank, is in full swing to bring this exciting, community and family-oriented event back for its eighth run on the Island. Of course, this year will be a little different but the Boo Crew at FunAmeda Productions will be working with all participants and the community to incorporate up-to-date guidelines to facilitate a safe and spook-tacular event.

It's easy and fun to enter. Residents decorate the front of their homes, a window, or even their car and enter to win cool prizes - including the coveted, Most Haunted House trophy. Route maps to the haunted displays will be available through FunAmeda Productions for a suggested donation of $5, with all funds going to the Alameda Food Bank. With trusty maps in hand, on the two nights leading up to Halloween, folks, friends and families can walk, bike or drive by to enjoy all the b00-tiful contest displays. As the Alameda Food Bank is not accepting canned goods at this time, viewers will also be able to make cash donations (using their cell phones) to the food bank along the route.

The entries are scored by a panel of independent judges and this year, FunAmeda is very excited to announce our special guest judges - Tangella, Livingston and Vincent VanDahl from KOFY TV20s Saturday night horror and sci-fi movie show, Creature Features.

On Halloween night, the Boo Crew will deliver all kinds of fabulous tricks and treats to all the AHYH! winners.

"Alameda-Haunt Your House! is a great way to safely bring some fun to the community during a very tough year," says participant, Mark T. "The contest is a great alternative to trick or treating and families can still enjoy the spectacle and thrill of Halloween while maintaining social distancing and, it's all for an important cause."

Alameda-Haunt Your House! 2020 is made possible, in part, with the support of the Alameda Public Art Commission.
