Alameda Man Killed in Crash

He was thrown off a freeway on-ramp that's 75 feet or 80 feet in the air.

ALAMEDA, CA — A man killed in a solo motorcycle crash Tuesday afternoon on Interstate Highway 80 in the unincorporated Contra Costa County community of Crockett has been identified as 65-year-old Larry Orr of Alameda, according to the county coroner's office.

Orr was apparently riding on the Pomona Street on-ramp to Highway 80 near the Carquinez Bridge at about 3:40 p.m. when he somehow crashed, California Highway Patrol Officer Brandon Correia said.

Orr was thrown off the Harley-Davidson Super Glide and ended up on Wanda Street, which is 75 feet or 80 feet below the flyover on-ramp, Correia said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP, which initially reported he was 64 years old.

The exact cause of the crash has yet to be determined, Correia said.
