Alameda Schools Included in Ranking of Nation's Best High Schools
Alameda and Encinal both earned silver medals from U.S. News and World Report.

Alameda and Encinal are among the best high schools in the country according to rankings released Tuesday.Â
With a national ranking of 566 and a state ranking of 109, Alameda High School was one of 1,790 schools nationwide awarded a silver medal by U.S. News and World Report in its 2013 list of the nation's best public high schools.
Encinal High School also earned a silver medal from the magazine with a national ranking of 1,102 and a state ranking of 221.

The rankings were calculated by looking at student performance on standardized tests, evaluating how well schools educated black, Hispanic and poor students, and by how effectively they prepared graduates for college.Â
