City to Consider Parklet Guidelines
The Transportation Commission voted on Wednesday to recommend an amended set of guidelines to the Planning Board, which is expected to consider approval of the guidelines on July 22, The Alamedan reports.

The City of Alameda is considering guidelines for installing parklets, which would replace parking spots with new public gathering spaces, according to The Alamedan.

The Planning Board president, David Burton, along with member John Knox White were involved in creating the city’s first parklet last September. It was an urban garden-themed area placed right in front of Tucker’s Ice Cream on Park Street to celebrate PARK(ing) Day, an international effort to transform parking spots into the microparks, The Alamedan reports.
