Mailbox Stolen From Shoreline Drive Post Office

If you dropped mail off at the drive-up collection boxes next to the parking lot on Shoreline Drive during the New Year's Eve weekend, you may want to check with the recipient(s) and review your bank and credit card statements.

A collection box was stolen over the New Year’s Eve weekend from the Alameda Main Post Office located at 2201 Shoreline Dr. over the weekend.

According to a post office employee, it was the very last mailbox when exiting the drive through. She told Alameda Patch that the incident occurred either Saturday, Sunday or early Monday morning.

Post office staff didn't notice it missing until a mail collector went out there around 1 p.m. on Monday.

Postal Inspectors are the federal law enforcement arm of the US Postal Service and are conducting an investigation.

There is a standing $10,000 reward for mail theft.
