Encinal Football Player Who Collapsed, Died Identified

Firefighters responded to the high school to help the student athlete, who was rushed to the hospital.

ALAMEDA, CA - The Alameda County coroner's bureau has identified a student who died following a football practice at an Alameda high school on Tuesday as 15-year-old Oakland resident Giovanni Pulido.

Firefighters responded at 5:55 p.m. to Encinal High School at 210 Central Ave., Division Fire Chief Al Richterman said.

Pulido, an Encinal High School student, was taken to a hospital and died there, according to the coroner's bureau.

Pulido was at football practice before being taken to the hospital, Alameda Fire Department spokesman Juan Medrano said.
