Free Lunch For Kids Offered In Oakland
The lunch is offered Monday through Friday, no advance registration or proof of public assistance status is required.
OAKLAND, CA — The Alameda County Social Services Agency on Thursday started its free lunch program for children in an effort to alleviate the nutrition gap experienced in summer months when students are out of school.
The program in particular is meant to help people living in areas where at least half of all students are eligible to receive free or reduced-price meals at school.
The summer meals program directly addresses childhood hunger and promotes Alameda County's goal of eliminating poverty and hunger by the year 2026.
