Grass Fire In Lime Ridge Open Space

WALNUT CREEK, CA — A 1-acre grass fire in the Lime Ridge Open Space in Walnut Creek has been contained Wednesday afternoon, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

The fire was reported at 1:24 p.m. in part of the open space area near Ygnacio Valley Road. Crews responded and fully contained the fire by shortly before 2:50 p.m. with no structures threatened or injuries reported.

The fire district said there may have been a previous cooking fire that sparked the blaze, but an exact cause has not been determined.

Crews will remain in the area into the late afternoon to mop up, so the fire district is advising people to avoid the area.
