Glide through the holiday season and into the new year! A multitude of holiday, pop-up ice rinks are offering frosty fun this year throughout California. Find one, and join the fun!

ALAMEDA:

Through JAN. 15: 'Little Ice Rink' - South Shore Center. Dubbed as "4,100 square feet of ice skating bliss," this rink offers "Bobby" the seal and "Tommy" the reindeer "skating aids" for novices. San Jose Sharks "Sharkie" will skate by on Dec. 3 and Jan. 7. Don't miss that!

ALPINE:

Through Jan. 28: Viejas Outlet Center Ice Rink. Viejas Casino & Resort transforms its grounds into a winter wonderland. Enjoy!

DAILY through JAN. 15: Safeway Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square. A festive destination in the heart of the City by the Bay, the rink offers on Saturdays and Sundays Free 'Learn To Skate' classes. And don't miss such themed skate events as Drag Queens on Ice, Flashback Fridays and Polar Bear Skate.

SAN JOSE:

Through JAN. 7: 'Holidays on Ice' Outdoor Skating: Galway Downs. The gigantic ice rink is only one feature of "Christmas on the Ranch" winter festival. Make it a family outing and also enjoy holiday hay rides, the Promenade of Lights, sleigh rides, Santa's house and yummy concessions!

Through JAN. 8: Temecula on Ice: Outdoor Ice Skating. A local tradition: Lace up those skates, and slide and glide on the ice to background holiday tunes at the Main Street rink.

THOUSAND OAKS:

Through Jan. 28: Outdoor Holiday Ice Rink 2017: The Lakes. Skate, shop, dine, repeat! Store and eatery options abound at this center.

WALNUT CREEK:

Through JAN. 15: Outdoor Ice Skating. A community tradition, this rink hosts family skate nights on Tuesdays, plus a "Frosty & Friends" event with princesses and furry critters. "Glider rentals" for the little ones.
