Local Chef-Led Cooking Classes Benefit Alameda Family Services
The three, online sessions are seasonally themed for "Italian Harvest," "Oktoberfest" and "Thanksgiving Surprise." Tickets on sale.
ALAMEDA, CA — Alameda Family Services has tapped three chefs from local restaurants to teach online, cooking classes, each with a seasonal focus, as a "Chef's Kitchen" fundraiser for the non-profit, which provides a community-support network with medical, mental health and child development services.
On the agenda:
"Italian Harvest" with Trabocco Kitchen's Giuseppe Naccarelli on Monday, Sept. 14 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. The eatery's owner-chef, Naccarelli, will create a menu with a mocktail or cocktail, along with details on how to create one of his signature, classic Italian dishes using pantry essentials. "Oktoberfest" with Peter Kahl of Speisekammer on Monday, Oct. 12 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Follow along and learn to create a Kuhl Cumber Elderflower mocktail (with a gin option), plus such German classics as potato pancakes with sour cream appetizer, and weisskohl rouladen (stuffed cabbage) with mashed potatoes. "Thanksgiving Surprise" features Pappo's John Thiel on Monday, Nov. 9 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The owner-chef will make some of his favorite Thanksgiving dishes, including a sparkling cranberry-ginger-lime mocktail (with alcohol option), butternut-squash apple soup and roasted Brussels sprouts with pancetta. The live and interactive events are $100 each, with recipes provided prior to the classes so participants can follow along. Registered attendees will receive one surprise gift and a digital copy of the finished class video, along with the recipe. Class fees are 100-percent tax-deductible, the agancy said.
A previous cooking lesson in the series, featuring Little House Cafe's Chef Donna Meadows, was held earlier this month.
