Local Credit Union Helps Coast Guard During Government Shutdown

Sea West Credit Union to Offer Special Services in Wake of Current Government Shutdown

In response to the current government shutdown, Sea West Coast Guard Federal Credit Union is offering interest-free payroll loans to active duty, retired, and civilian Coast Guard members in order to help them through any financial difficulty they may face as a result of working without pay.

“The hard-working men and women of the United States Coast Guard are being seriously affected by the government shutdown,” said Tom Doherty, President/CEO of Sea West. “With a payday that is now not guaranteed, many are worried about paying basic bills. Our organization was founded specifically to serve and support the Coast Guard and we will do all within our power to support them during this time.”

Sea West’s long-standing policy has been to offer zero percent direct-deposit loans to its members during government shutdowns, but with the current situation occurring over the holidays, it is extending its policy to cover any qualifying Coast Guard member.
