
ALAMEDA, CA — A man found dead in a lagoon in Alameda less than two weeks ago has been identified by the Alameda County coroner's office as 24-year-old Luis Perez-Diaz.
Perez-Diaz was found April 29 just north of 339 Broadway. Alameda police were notified of a body floating in the water at 8:44 a.m., and sheriff's deputies went out to the body around 10:50 a.m.
Police initially called the death suspicious. While the death remains under investigation, it is not being
investigated as a homicide.

The official cause of Perez-Diaz's death was drowning, according to the coroner's office.
Coroner's officials were not able to determine a city of residence for Perez-Diaz.
