NEA Students Frustrated Over Loss of Teacher
School officials told Patch no student "walkout" happened at school on Wednesday. Instead, officials said, they addressed students' frustrations at the school's outdoor "free speech zone."

Students at NEA Community Learning Center expressed disappointment Wednesday afternoon about a teacher who is no longer at the school, according to school officials.
Though readers have contacted Alameda Patch saying there was a "walkout" in response to this, Maafi Gueye, the school's lead facilitator, said no such thing occurred.
She said about 100 kids gathered around the school's outdoor "free speech zone" — an area on campus where students can express their opinions and feelings — and talked about the situation in a "peaceful process," according to Gueye.

"It was a learning moment for us," she said, as school officials couldn't provide many details as to why "that person is no longer with us." This left students frustrated but most understood it was a private, personal matter.
Gueye did not provide the teacher's name or the reason why she is no longer at the school but did say it was "a loss for our community."
