Oakland Man Arrested In Connection With 10 Robberies: Police

Jason Eliasin, 22, was arrested after San Francisco Police tied him to armed robberies and attempted robberies between Oct. 24 and Dec. 1.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — San Francisco police officers this week arrested an Oakland man suspected of at least 10 armed robberies and attempted robberies.

Officers arrested Jason Eliasin, 22, after he allegedly robbed or attempted to rob several banks and businesses in the city at gunpoint between Oct. 24 and Dec. 1.

The first six robberies occurred near the San Francisco Police Department's Richmond Station, according to the SFPD, with officers responding to reports of robberies at banks and businesses on Geary Boulevard and Third, 19th and 25th avenues between Oct. 24 and Nov. 24.

Eliasin also allegedly committed armed robberies and attempted robberies at banks on the 2000 block of Van Ness Avenue and the 3800 block of 24th Street. SFPD investigators determined from suspect descriptions and surveillance images that the suspect in each robbery was the same person.

The final robbery occurred Dec. 1 around 9:30 a.m. at a bank on the 300 block of Sixth Ave., according to the SFPD. Eliasin allegedly entered the bank, brandishing a handgun and demanding money before fleeing the scene with the money.

Investigators determined he fled on a dockless bicycle to the Civic Center BART Station. SFPD officers from the Southern and Tenderloin stations joined those from the Richmond station as well as BART police officers in an effort to locate Eliasin.

After a brief pursuit on foot, officers took Eliasin into custody on the unit block of Grove Street in connection with the robberies and attempted robberies. Officers seized a knife and a replica handgun from Eliasin during the arrest.
