Ploughshares Breaks Ground for New Nursery

Andrea Schorr, Alameda Point Collaborative's Director of Social Enterprise, shares the latest on the new green building, expected to be completed sometime next year.

Ploughshares Nursery, a social enterprise of Alameda Point Collaborative, recently celebrated a groundbreaking for its new nursery.

Foundation was laid for the 2,500 sq. ft. building this past week. It is expected to be completed sometime in 2014.

It will serve many purposes — from a retail and gardening center to office space for staff.

Though several grants have helped pave the way for the building — costing around an estimated $700,000 according to Schorr — Ploughshares is still seeking funding.
