ALAMEDA, CA — Alameda Police report several vehicle burglaries this month, and they're reminding residents and visitors to remove valuables and lock their vehicles.
"Let us be clear," police said in a social media post, "Hiding personal items in your backseat (even with tinted windows) or in your trunk after parking is unfortunately no longer a safe way to keep your valuables secured."
Police say in one case caught on surveillance video, a thief peered into cars and only broke into some of them. In another case, thieves checked door handles and burglarized cars that were left unlocked.
