Stargell Commons to Break Ground Wednesday

The new development will provide 32 units of affordable housing in 1 - 3 bedroom units.

ALAMEDA, CA - A groundbreaking celebration will take place at Stargell Commons in Alameda on Wednesday, Mar. 23, at 10 a.m.

Stargell Commons will provide 32 units of family housing in three garden style buildings surrounding a surface parking lot and courtyard. A fourth one-story building will face the courtyard and include a community room, laundry facilities, and offices for property management and resident services staff. The property is scheduled to be completed in March 2017.

Accessibility and adaptability have been built into the design.

Developers will use green building materials and practices at the LEED Gold certification level.

All units at Stargell Commons will be affordable to families who earn 30 to 60% of the Area Median Income. The floor plans include 5 one-bedroom, 16 two-bedroom, and 10 three-bedroom units, plus one unit for onsite property management staff.

The surrounding Alameda Landing development provides many amenities for future residents of Stargell Commons. Within walking distance is the Alameda Landing shopping center, including a Safeway and Target.

TRI Pointe Homes is constructing approximately 300 market rate homes in the development.

Resources for Community Development (RCD) and the Housing Authority of the City of Alameda (HACA)are spearheading the development. HKIT Architects is providing architectural services and Branagh, Inc. is the general contractor.
