Volunteers Needed for OAK Airport Emergency Response Exercise

The exercise will be held on Tuesday, June 18 from 7 a.m. to about 1:30 p.m.

Oakland International Airport is holding an emergency response exercise on June 18.

This event is typically held every three years and requires as many as 120 volunteers to “role play” as victims or assist with the exercise support tasks.

This is a great opportunity to participate in an aircraft emergency response simulation. Persons over the age of 18 are welcome to participate. A waver and release of liability form must be signed by each volunteer.

Pre-exercise activities go from 7 to 9 a.m. Post exercise and debriefing activities are from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The exercise itself is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Participants should arrive by 7 a.m. and must register by 8 a.m.

Parking is free to volunteers. Volunteers should follow the roadway signs which will be located on the roadside as you approach the OMC building.

Dress Code and Personal Belongings

Participants should wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Women are encouraged to wear pants.

Participants are encouraged not to bring valuable belongings with them to the exercise, such as laptops, briefcases, iPods, etc.. OAK is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Participants may bring books or magazines to read during nonactive periods.
