32nd Annual Emeryville Art Exhibition Begins Friday

Visitors can see 165 works by 115 artists and craftspeople who live or work in Emeryville. The art work is juried.

EMERYVILLE, CA — An annual arts exhibition begins Friday in Emeryville, one of only 14 districts in California designated by the California Arts Council as a premier cultural district, organizers said.

The 32nd Annual Emeryville Art Exhibition starts with an opening reception Friday at 6 p.m. at 5700 Horton St. in Emeryville.

The exhibition, which is juried, continues on Saturday at 11 a.m. and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Oct. 28 at 5700 Horton St.

The opening reception, where visitors can get a sneak peek at the artwork, and the daily exhibitions are free.

On display will be paintings, sculpture, photographs, prints, textiles, ceramics, glass works and poetry.
Kathleen Hanna is the curator and a juror of the exhibition.

"This year, the record 165 works represent a community as lively and talented as it is diverse," Hanna said in a statement.

Other jurors are Tim Buckwalter, director of exhibitions at NIAD Art Center in Richmond and Ruth Santee, co-director/owner of Transmission Gallery in Oakland.
