Albany Homes Median Sales Price Climbs Over $1M
Albany home sales saw a double-digit drop in sales compared to last year, but listings increased 200 percent.
ALBANY, CA — The median price of homes sold in Albany crept over the million dollar mark in May, to $1,020,000, according to statistics provided by Dave Stark of the Bay East Association of Realtors. That's a seven percent increase from May of 2018, when the median price was $952,000.
The number of Albany homes sold this year declined 18 percent, from 11 to 9.
Meanwhile, the number of homes listed for sale in Albany in May went up 200 percent compared to last year, the largest percentage increase in the entire East Bay.

A look at the I-880 corridor shows a mixed bag, with only four cities having an increase in median sales price — Alameda, Albany, Castro Valley and San Leandro.
"The 880 corridor showed exactly what happened when buyers have more choices....Prices dropped in more than half of the 880 communities."
