Cal Football Team Elects Captains

The season opens this Saturday.

By Cal Athletics

Head coach Sonny Dykes announced during a team meeting Sunday that Jared Goff, Daniel Lasco, Stefan McClure, Hardy Nickerson and Jordan Rigsbee have been elected as captains for the 2015 season in a vote of their teammates. McClure’s selection was his third in as many seasons as he became the first player in school history to be selected as a team captain three times. Goff and Lasco were chosen for the second consecutive campaign, while Nickerson and Rigsbee were picked for the first time.

“Leadership is about making people around you better,” Dykes said. “I think all five of the young men that we have elected as captains make people around them better, and that’s what we need. I thought our players did a great job of selecting student-athletes that have a lot of maturity and a very high level of commitment to our program. We really think that these five young men will be great representatives of our program on the field, off the field and in every way possible.”
