Emeryville Pedestrian Crash Witnessed By City Councilman

The accident on Monday prompted the councilman to call for changes at that intersection.

EMERYVILLE, CA —A man walking at Hollis and 45th streets was hospitalized in stable condition with a head injury after the driver of a vehicle struck him Monday, Emeryville police said. The pedestrian is in stable condition, they said.

Police were notified at 3:34 p.m. and arrived less than a minute later to the scene, where the pedestrian was down and the driver was waiting and cooperated with the investigation.

Police say drugs or alcohol were not a factor.

Emeryville Councilman John Bauters said via Twitter that he witnessed the accident and later tweeted that when the council meets on Sept. 3, "I will request that council agenda pedestrian safety at 45th and Hollis streets immediately and refer it to the Transportation & Public Works
Committee."
