Free Sandbags Available In Albany

ALBANY, CA — Call it the Pineapple Express, or an atmospheric river - just don't ignore the storm heading for Albany. Weather forecasters are warning that rainfall records could be set.

Here's where to find sandbags, and don't forget to bring a shovel —

• With proof of Albany residency, up to 10 sandbags can be obtained at the City of Albany Fire Department, 1000 San Pablo Ave., Albany CA, (510) 528-5770. Sand can be obtained at the Ocean View Park parking lot, 900 Buchanan St., Albany. For further information, please contact the Public Works Department at (510) 524-9543.

Fill the sandbags half-full to allow room for tying them closed and so the sandbags can conform to empty spaces as you are placing them.
