Letter: Bats in Albany?

I was wondering about the bat population in the Albany area.

I was in my backyard one night and saw something zip by my head. I know of bats in other areas in California, but to have one fly by in Albany is rare.

If you can enlighten me about what kind of bats live in the area that would be great. I think I will be making a bat box for them.

My biggest question is: How many bats are living in the neighborhood and does anyone know of the frequency of them being seen (at night of course)?

I look forward about any details regarding the beneficial neighbors.
