Pedestrian Killed On I-80 In Emeryville

EMERYVILLE, CA — A person was killed early Friday on Interstate Highway 80, closing the freeway for more than an hour.

The pedestrian, described only as male, was first spotted shortly after 4 a.m. sitting on top of the freeway's center divide near the Powell Street onramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A short time later, a vehicle hit the person and the CHP closed westbound lanes on I-80 at 4:25 a.m., the CHP said.
