Pedestrian Killed On I-80 In Emeryville ID'd

All westbound lanes were closed last Friday after the crash.

EMERYVILLE, CA — A pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate Highway 80 in Emeryville early last Friday morning was identified by the Alameda County coroner's bureau on Wednesday as 38-year-old Daniel Boyer.

No home address was listed for Boyer.

The California Highway Patrol said Boyer was spotted sitting on top of the center divider on I-80 near the Powell Street onramp shortly after 4 a.m. last Friday.

A vehicle hit Boyer a short time later and the westbound lanes on I-80 were closed at 4:25 a.m., according to the CHP.

The freeway remained closed for more than an hour until it was reopened at 5:30 a.m. Friday.
