Police Calls: 2 Bikes Stolen, Unwanted Pit Bull Puppy

The Albany police logs for Dec. 25-26 include two bicycles stolen from a parking garage, an auto burglary at Sizzler, graffiti at Albany High, a neighbor trying to enter the wrong home with a key and teen girls accosted by a strange-acting man.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Wednesday, Dec. 25

Motorized dirt bike on Albany Hill – At 10:18 a.m., police logged a report of a person riding a Honda dirt motorbike on Albany Hill. Disposition: Miscellaneous violation – warning given.

Trespassing, drug paraphernalia arrest – At 2:38 p.m., police arrested a 23-year-old Oakland woman at Kains and Harrison on suspicion of trespassing and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest followed a report of a person entering a residential property on Kains without permission.

Buck not moving – At 4:39 p.m., police received a report of buck not moving in a backyard on Jackson. Disposition: No police action warranted at this time.

Person on RR tracks with flashlight – At 1);27 p.m., police received a report of a person on the railroad tracks at Cleveland and I-80 with a flashlight and bike nearby. Disposition: Miscellaneous violation – warning given.

Unwanted pit bull puppy – At 10:40, a person notified police that she found a pit bull puppy in Berkeley yesterday and tried to turn it in to the shelter today but that an employee or volunteer turned her away. The reporting party wants to turn the dog in. She lives in an apartment complex and cannot care for it. Disposition: Log note only.

911 call, person trying to enter home with key – At 10:51 p.m., police received a call from a resident saying an unknown subject was trying enter the residence on Curtis with a key. While still on the phone, the reporting party said the subject turned out to be a neighbor. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Thursday, Dec. 26

Drug arrest, mental hold – At 4:37 a.m., police arrested a 23-year-old female transient who resides at the waterfront at 1127 Marin Avenue on suspicion of illegal possession of a controlled substance and on a mental disorder hold.

Arrest on illegal gun possession, car registration – At 11:14 a.m., police arrested a 66-year-old Pinole man on suspicion of illegal possession of a firearm and on loaning a vehicle registration or license plate to someone not entitled to it.

Graffiti at Albany High – At 11:15 a.m., police received a report of fresh graffiti at the amphitheater and pool walls at Albany High. Disposition: Log note only.

Two bikes stolen – At 2 p.m., police received a report of two bicycles stolen from the parking garage at 555 Pierce between Sunday and Monday. Disposition: Case report taken.

Auto burglary at Sizzler – At 2:31 p.m., police received a report of an auto burglary at Sizzler earlier today. Disposition: Case report taken.

Vehicle vandalism, window smashed – At 2:59 p.m., police received a report of a vehicle window smashed in an act of vandalism on Peralta sometime since Monday. Disposition: Case report taken.

Strange-acting man accosts two teen girls – At 8:17 p.m., police received a report that a strange man in his early 20s approached two females, aged 15 and 16, near Brighton and Key Route while they were sitting on a bench. He said he didn't seem to have been drinking but was not communicating normally. When the girls left, he started following them, and they ran into the reporting party's residence. Disposition: Miscellaneous violation – warning given.

Suspected child abuse – At 6:19 p.m., police received a report at the police station of suspected child abuse. Disposition: Case report taken.
