Police Calls: 4 Hit-&-Run Cases in 2 Days, Battery Arrest at Albany Bowl

The Albany police logs for Oct. 9-10 include four hit-and-run reports, a battery arrest at Albany Bowl, complaints about snarled traffic due to traffic-signal work at Marin and San Pablo, a yelling solicitor and alleged prostitution at H & Y Massage.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Wednesday, Oct. 9

Man looking in garbage cans – At 1:16 a.m., police received a report of a man with a white sack looking in garbage cans at Cleveland and Solano. Disposition: Miscellaneous violation – warning given.

Hit and run with damage – At 4:21 a.m., police logged a report of a cold hit and run with damage on Taylor. Disposition: Case report taken.

Man taking recycling
– At 7:48 a.m., police received a report of a man in in white pickup taking recycling in the area of Curtis. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Prostitution alleged 
– At 12:39 p.m., police logged a report of an Oct. 2, 2013 letter reporting that H & Y Massage on San Pablo was engaged in prostitution. Disposition: Case report taken.

Yelling solicitor
– At 1:33 p.m., police received a report of a partially toothless man in his 50s with a clipboard and baseball cap asking for signatures at Cornell and Solano to place something on the ballot. When the reporting party refused, the man started yelling at her about what happen to children of the state. The reporting party would like an officer to speak to him. Disposition: Matter or reported situation checks out O.K.

Dogs barking, not normal 
– At 2:05 p.m., police received a report that a neighbors' dogs on Peralta have been outside and barking since 6 a.m. The reporting party said it's not normal for the neighbors to leave their dogs outside barking and requests that police attempt to contact the residents and check on their well being. Disposition: Log note only.

Threatening letters
– A person in the police lobby reported that she is receiving threatening letters. Disposition: Log note only.

Battery arrest at Albany Bowl – At 10:05 p.m., police arrested a 36-year-old Oakland man at 540 San Pablo Ave. on suspicion of battery. The arrest followed a battery report logged at 10:05 p.m. of a physical altercation between a man in his 40s and a woman in her 20s at Albany Bowl.

Hit and run with damage – At 10:30 p.m., police logged a report of a hit and run with damage on Marin. The reporting party inside a Nissan Altima refused to have police respond. Disposition: Request for police canceled.

Thursday, Oct. 10

Albany Hill camps – At 7:52 a.m., police logged officer-initiated checking of camps at Albany Hill. Disposition: Case report taken.

Work on traffic lights causing major delays – At 9:43 a.m., an anonymous caller said the work being done to traffic lights at Marin and San Pablo is causing major delays for pedestrians and vehicles. Disposition: Log note only.

Identity theft – At 10:24 a.m., police received a report that four fraudulent credit cards were opened under the name of the reporting party. Disposition: Case report taken.

Hit and run with damage – At 10:48 a.m., police a report of a hit and run with damage at Precision Jewelers on San Pablo at 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 3. The reporting party provided the suspect vehicle's license plate number. Disposition: No police action warranted at this time.

Juvenile problem at Albany High – At 11:32 a.m., police logged a "Juvenile Problem" report of officer-initiated activity at Albany High School. Disposition: Case report taken.

Work on traffic lights causing delay – At 11:33 a.m., police logged a report of a person in the lobby with regard to traffic delays caused by the crew working on the traffic lights at Marin and San Pablo. Disposition: Matter or reported situation checks out O.K.

Request for crossing guard – At 3:19 p.m., police received a request for a crossing guard at Marin and San Pablo since the lights are out. Disposition: Log note only.

Hit and run with damage – At 6:05 p.m., police received a report of a cold hit and run with damage that occurred in the parking of the Albany Library on Oct. 8. Disposition: Case report taken.

Man taking recycling – At 7:20 p.m., police received a report of a man with a shopping cart taking recycling on Cornell. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.
