Police Calls: Several Thefts, Shaking/Vibrating House, Sidewalk Sleepers
The Albany police log for Nov. 15 includes three incidents of people sleeping on the sidewalk, a shaking/vibrating house, a loud explosion at Cougar Field, a dumpster fire at Albany High and thefts of a vehicle, bike, tools and Target items.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.
Friday, Nov. 15
Outstanding warrant arrest after checking on a sleeping person – At 1:12 a.m., police arrested a 61-year-old transient at Cleveland and Johnson on an outstanding warrant. The arrest followed a 1:01 a.m. report of officer-initiated activity at Cleveland and Johnson described as "out with a sleeper."

Person sleeping on sidewalk – At 3:31 a.m., police logged officer-initiated activity involving a person sleeping on the sidewalk on Pierce. Disposition: Log note only.Â
Person sleeping on sidewalk, frightening residents – At 8:36 a.m., police received a report of subject asleep on the sidewalk and frightening residents at Gateview Towers on Pierce. Security says he's on a public sidewalk at the corner of the property. Disposition: Situation corrected by APD.Â

Non-injury accident – At 9:51 a.m., police received a report of a non-injury accident involving a silver BMW and a red Toyota on Buchanan at Eastshore. Disposition: Case report taken.
Tools stolen from vehicle – At 11:11 a.m., a person in the police lobby reported that tools were stolen from his vehicle sometime last night. Disposition: Case report taken.
Sirrus Sport bike stolen – At 6 p.m., police received a report of small white specialized Sirrus Sport bicycle stolen on Nov. 8 at Carmel and Solano. It had the original cable lock and is valued at $600. Disposition: Case report taken.
Vehicle stolen, owner may have seen it just before theft – At 6:30 p.m., police received a report of a vehicle stolen on Pierce at Solano. The reporting party parked the vehicle there this morning, and had just returned at 6:10 p.m. after thinking he saw his vehicle as he passed by on the bus. By the time he got there, the vehicle was gone. Disposition: Case report taken.
Dumpster fire behind Albany High gym – At 7:29 p.m., police logged a report of dumpster fire next the Albany High gym, on the east side. The department received multiple calls. Disposition: Case report taken.
House shaking/vibrating – At 8:07 p.m., police received a report of a house shaking/vibrating on Peralta, possibly from construction in the area. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.
Loud explosion on Cougar Field – At 9:46, police logged a report from the El Cerrito Police Department of a loud explosion on Cougar Field. Disposition: Matter or reported situation checks out O.K.
Theft at Target – At 10:29 p.m., police received a report of a man about 35 years old in the domestic department at Target concealing items in an Ikea bag. Disposition: Log note only.
DUI arrest, injury accident – At 11:40 p.m., police arrested a 55-year-old Berkeley man at Cleveland and I-80 on suspicion of driving under the influence. The arrest followed an 11 p.m. DUI log report of a green Chevy over an embankment on or near the railroad tracks at Cleveland and I-80. Another log report, titled "Vehicle Accident – Injury" and entered at 11:47 p.m., referenced the arrest and the 11 p.m. DUI report.
