Crab Feed is sold out! Fiat Raffle! Catholic Schools Week! Performing Arts on stage!
Saint Mary’s High extends thanks to all its supporters for another sold-out Crab Feed! The big event, with more than 600 attending, is February 1. A Silent Auction and Raffle for a pre-owned certified 2016 Fiat will add to the fun. Thanks to the Saint Mary’s Parent Association for all their work sponsoring the event, a community favorite for more than four decades.
The school’s Performing Arts Department will feature three performances in the school auditorium during February and the public is invited. The Theatre Arts Showcase on Thursday, February 6 at 7:00 p.m. is $5.00 general admission. The show features performances by the three Theatre Arts classes (Introduction, Intermediate, and Advanced), and a special performance by the Saint Mary's Improv Club. Music and Dance Concerts will follow on February 20 and 28, respectively. Both begin at 7:00 p.m. The Music Concert is free and the Dance Concert is $5.00 general admission. The Spring Musical, "Little Shop of Horrors" will be on stage in late March and early April.
January 27-31 is National Catholic Schools Week. The Lasallian Region of North America, of which Saint Mary’s is a part, featured the school’s annual Enrichment Week program for the Wednesday theme, “Celebrating Our Nation.” The program takes place in early March, and the dozens of faculty-developed E-Week courses include travel to sites around the country for a first-hand look at the people, places, and history of the United States. A visit or service opportunity at a Lasallian community at the travel destination is on the agenda, whenever possible: Tucson, New Orleans, Memphis, Montana, New York, Washington, D.C., Oregon, Washington, and at locations around California itself.

Cathy Molinelli, Saint Mary’s Vice-Principal and Enrichment Week Coordinator, notes that students always return to Berkeley with new insights. “Enrichment Week allows Saint Mary’s students and faculty opportunities to experience and celebrate our nation. What was previously limited to images in a book or on a computer or television screen takes on new meaning when seen ‘up close and personal.’ Meeting people in other parts of the country, learning about their culture, seeing other Lasallian communities, even simple things like trying local cuisine and being in weather so different from that of the Bay Area – all this enriches students by giving them a broader sense of the world.” (Christian Brothers Conference image; Saint Mary's Enrichment Week trips 2017-2019)
