Aliso Viejo 1st in Water Challenge
The city is leading its division in the 2012 mayor's water conservation challenge.
Aliso Viejo is currently ranked in first place for the Wyland Foundation's National , according to the challenge website.
Newport Beach holds the No. 2 spot behind Aliso Viejo for the participating western region cities with populations between 30,000 and 100,000.
"I am very proud of our residents. When it comes to a community challenge, Aliso Viejo ranks second to none. On behalf of the council, I wish to thank all those who have participated," said Mayor Donald Garcia.

All rankings are based on the percentage of residents who have pledged to conserve their water usage and reduce waste in April. Participants in cities with the highest percentage of residents who take the challenge will be eligible to win more than 1,000 prizes, including a Toyota Prius.
