The Dodgers (11 to 12 year olds, Major division team) who went into their city tournament as the fifth seed managed to climb the winner’s bracket with an undefeated record and came in first at the District 55 Tournament of Champions.

The District 55 cities of Newport Beach, Irvine, Lake Forest/Saddleback, Laguna Niguel, Rancho Niguel, Laguna Beach and Aliso Viejo each sent two of its qualifying teams to the tournament. The championship game was won 6-0 against the other Aliso Viejo team, the Diamondbacks.

“Best part about this run is that each of these kids not only had a chance to experience Tournament of Champions, which is not common, but to actually win it which is even harder. They basically only have two chances in their lifetime at the 11- and 12-year level to do something like this so I am happy for them and their families,” said team Manager Tim Pimentel.

Larry Schuler and Brian Kryscki coached the winning Aliso Viejo team.
