AVCA Picks Day to Walk People Through Dog Park
Aliso Viejo Community Association moves forward with dog park plans, recognizes association volunteers.
board members selected May 12 for the Aliso Canyon Community Park walking workshop—the proposed site for the city's first dog park.
Residents are encouraged to attend the workshop to give input and hear plans for the park from AVCA board and committee members. The workshop begins at 9 a.m. and should last no more than two hours.
AVCA President Ross Chun said the workshop is proposed to begin near the soccer field at the end of the Aliso Canyon Community Park. The actual location for the dog park has been discussed for the undeveloped area beyond the soccer fields, toward Aliso and Wood Canyon Park.

OTHER BUSINESS:
— The AVCA board looked at an ongoing vandalism issue at Aliso Viejo Community Park. It was reported to the association that middle school students were seen breaking park equipment and placing graffiti. The Orange County Sherriff Department has been asked to send extra patrols to the area when they are available. AVCA will contact the school board for support with this issue.
— With a few conditions, the board of directors approved the use of Creekside Park for Saddleback Valley Pop Warner football practice. Pop Warner must meet the following requirements: the 75 percent residency requirement must be met within the teams, all insurance requirements must be met by AVCA’s deadline, user fees must be paid in accordance to the User Fee Schedule, proof of non-profit status provided and waivers/releases provided to AVCA for each participant. Creekside Park must also be finished will all maintenance before it can be used for practice.
