Take a Time Out at the Local Tavern

is home to the only public pool tables in Aliso Viejo and maybe the most diverse group of customers.

It is the 10-year anniversary of Time Out Tavern in Aliso Viejo.  The bar and nightclub offers more than 25 varieties of beer, VIP couches, dance floor and a facility open for weddings, birthday parties, business meetings and other gatherings.

Tavern owner HD Manesh managed a bar while in college. After a career as an electrical engineer, he wanted to find a job that supported all of his passions.

“I like people. I like sports. I like entertainment. This job combines them all,” he said.

Week at a glance
Time Out Tavern features a variety of entertainment options including a nightclub on the weekends, major sports games on some of the “largest flat screens in Orange County”, open mic comedy night and country music night—featuring line dance tutorials.

There is also a variety food specials during the week including:  Rib night ($6.95 for a half rack of ribs, $11.95 for a full rack) and Taco Tuesdays (99 cent tacos, $3 margaritas).

Happy Hour is from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Manesh said as the day progresses the customers change, getting younger as the night grows late.

“I think we offer something different than the other places around. Something the community needed,” Manesh said.

Time Out Tavern enforces a dress code for their nightclub:

• No Shorts
• No Sandals
• No Open Toe Shoes

Girls:

• Look beautiful

The nightclub also features video mixing across the Tavern’s wall of big screens.

Star Sightings
Manesh said a variety of celebrities have been sighted at the Tavern, especially during the nightclub hours. To name a few: professional athletes, reality stars (like the O.C. Housewives and So You Think You Can Dance judge Mary Murphy) and signer Sheryl Crow, who performed at the Tavern.

Community Involvement
Manesh said he feels it is important to become an active part of the community and enjoys sponsoring school sports teams. Time Out Tavern also opens its doors to a variety of charity and business functions.

Different Décor
The décor at the tavern looks to be a combination of a stage production with its large velvet curtains, an old pub with its wood carved crown molding and a classic sports bar with pool table, video games and sports memorabilia covering the walls.

Economy woes
When the economy made its downturn Manesh had to get rid of one of the Tavern’s unique and appealing bonuses—free limousine rides within 5 miles.

Manesh said it cost him $400 per night to operate the two limousines. If the economy turns around, it is a feature he will bring back.

Mark your calendars for Halloween 2012
Halloween is Time Out Tavern’s busiest night of the year. Manesh said the Tavern is fully decorated for the holiday and customers go all out decorating themselves as well.
