Coronavirus Updates For Aliso Viejo: 6 Cases

ALISO VIEJO, CA — On Wednesday, Orange County Healthcare reported that 6 Aliso Viejo residents are either hospitalized or self-quarantining as a result of new coronavirus infections.

Overnight, an additional 107 coronavirus cases were reported across the county, bringing the total number of those infected by the virus up to 606 up from the number of cases confirmed in Orange County on Tuesday.

The numbers of positive results for coronavirus continue to rise through the population of Orange County amid social distancing throughout the region.

Overnight, 3 more residents succumbed to the virus, bringing the death toll up to 10.

As of Wednesday afternoon, 67 residents were hospitalized and of those, 31 are currently in intensive care, OC Healthcare reported. The hospitals where people have been admitted into care were not released.

"Numbers fluctuate day-by-day due to changes in patient conditions," according to OC Healthcare's website. All data is "gathered daily, at one point in time."

As of Wednesday afternoon, 7,271 Orange County residents have been tested by the public health labs and commercial labs to date.

OC Healthcare has the ability to test 1,286 more people, they say.

Of those who have died:

• 60 percent were over the age of 65-years old.
• 20 percent were between 25-34 years old.
• 10 percent were between 35-44 years old
• 10 percent were between 45-64 years old.

Five of the deceased were men, and five were women.

OC Healthcare continues to monitor the 3.2 million residents of Orange County, as testing continues to expand in the region.

As the number of cases grow, laboratories developing coronavirus antibody tests may help end quarantine for some.

Orange County's board of supervisors is urging residents to stay home and socially distance.

"It is no longer a debate," Supervisor Andrew Do said.

Social distancing is lessinging the spread of the disease, though we might not know for weeks or months how effective efforts have been.

Signs and Symptoms

If you are showing symptoms, such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath, self-isolate within your home, and stay away from loved ones.

If you are an employer or employee at an essential location, stay home.

"You should self-isolate until you have symptom improvement, and your fever has not returned for 72-hours," OC Healthcare advises. "Self-isolation should last for at least 7 days."

If your symptoms get worse, call your doctor. If your symptoms are dire, such as pain in your chest, inability to draw breath, call 911.
