A COVID-19 vaccine is one of the most important tools to end the COVID-19 pandemic. On December 11, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued the first emergency use authorization (EUA) for a vaccine, allowing the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine to be distributed in the U.S.

Is the vaccine safe?

COVID-19 vaccines authorized by FDA have been carefully evaluated in clinical trials.

How will vaccines be distributed?

Vaccines will be distributed in a phased approach, first in limited amounts to carefully selected high risk groups, including healthcare workers and long-term care residents.

California will distribute and administer vaccines as soon as they are available. You can read more about the State's plans here.
